What always makes me feel better?
Being a depressed black woman is not easy. I tell you all about it here, here and here. But I also give you practical tips to help you cope with depression. Not to mention the amazing women who were part of the roundup post about dealing with the depression stigma in the black community. So, thanks to depression, it’s important for me to figure out how to cope with my situation.
There are a number of things I’ve realized help me feel better no matter. Maybe they will help you too.
What always makes me feel better
Y’all know sleep is life for me. If I’m having an especially bad day, I’d much rather sleep away my sorrows and pain, then wake up and face ’em.
Besides, sleep is good therapy for depressed people, so go figure.
Yay! Food, glorious, foood! Again, food is good for depressed people. It helps with all that nonsense that is going on in our brains. The chemicals can do some real damage but it’s all good. Food can help us.
I’ve written about the importance of music to a depressed soul. Which is why I even have a music playlist, which I’m working on. These things are tough, you know. But music speaks tot he soul, comforts and soothes. I take advantage of it as much as I can.
You knew this. a good overdose of Ed, Edd, and Eddy and I feel way better than I did before. It really goes a long way, I tell you. Thank God for creative people like these writers.
